Material & Floor Swap

Material & Floor Swap answers the question every renovation starts with: how would this room look with different surfaces? Carpet becomes wide-plank oak, laminate counters become quartz, a dated backsplash becomes handmade-look tile, all inside your own photo with your own lighting. Upload a photo where the surface is clearly visible, pick the surface type, then choose a material from the library or describe your own, including tone and finish.

Only that surface is replaced: the AI rebuilds reflections, grout lines and texture to match, and everything outside your selection is kept from your original photo. Check the edges of the selection. This is the tool for comparing options that are expensive to get wrong.

Run the same kitchen photo with three counter materials, or the same hallway with carpet, oak and tile, and judge scale and color in the light the room actually gets. For the cleanest swaps, use photos where the surface is well lit and not heavily shadowed, and be specific about tone, for example 'warm medium oak, matte' rather than just 'wood floor'. A material swap costs 1 credit per image, so 4 variants cost four times as much.

Save the versions you like and pair them with the Cost Estimator to start thinking about budget for the real thing. Texture and sheen read differently at full scale, so treat the render as a strong shortlist and confirm with physical samples before ordering.

How it works

  1. Upload a photo

A clear phone photo of the room, the front of your house or your yard.

  2. Choose the change

Pick a style, a color or a material, or describe what should change.

  3. Compare and refine

See the result next to your original in your studio and history, then refine or try another option.

What you need

  • A photo showing the surface to change
  • The material you want to see
  • Optional notes on tone or finish

Ideas to try

  • “Replace the carpet with wide-plank white oak flooring.”
  • “Swap the laminate counters for white quartz with subtle veining.”
  • “Change the backsplash to handmade-look zellige tile.”
  • “Show this bathroom floor in large-format gray porcelain.”

Questions

Which surfaces can I swap?

Floors, countertops, backsplashes and cabinet fronts are supported. Pick the surface type, then choose or describe the replacement material.

Does the rest of the room change?

No. Everything outside your selection, including walls, furniture and windows, is kept from your original photo. Check the edges of the selection, where the new material blends in, before you use it.

How many credits does a material swap cost?

1 credit per image, and each variant is a separate image, which makes comparing three or four materials on the same photo inexpensive.

How do I get the most realistic result?

Use a photo where the surface is well lit and clearly visible, and describe tone and finish specifically, such as 'warm medium oak, matte'.
