Why a sample room beats a paint chip

A two-inch chip on a white card hides how a color behaves across a whole wall. Next to trim, wood floors and a sofa, a "gray" can turn beige or blue. The scenes here shade side walls darker and the ceiling corner softer, the way real light falls, so you see the color in context instead of in isolation.

How to read the numbers

Next to each color we show an approximate LRV (light reflectance value, 0 is black and 100 is white) and an undertone. Both are estimated from the on-screen color, not taken from the brand's own spec sheet. Use them to compare colors with each other, then check the brand's published LRV and a physical sample before you commit.

Then try it in your own room

Sample rooms get you to a shortlist. Your room has its own light, floors and furniture. With a free account you can repaint a photo of your actual walls with AI. Every color also has its own page in the paint color library with close matches across brands and pairings.

Questions

Is the paint color visualizer free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no sign-up. Only the optional AI render of a color on your own room photo needs a free account.

Which paint brands are included?

150 widely sold colors from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore and Behr, each with its official name and code. Brand names are used only to identify the colors.

How accurate are the colors on screen?

They are close approximations. Screens, settings and room light all change how paint looks, so always check a physical sample on your wall in morning and evening light before buying.

Can I compare two paint colors?

Yes. Turn on Compare, pick a second color, and the same room is shown twice, side by side, with the contrast between the two colors.
