Worked example
A quiz taker who likes light wood and calm rooms
Answers: natural light oak, terrazzo or warm natural stone, matte black, plain stacked tile, or none at all, paper or rattan shades, white and pale wood, calm and uncluttered.
- Light oak cabinets: Japandi +2, Scandinavian +1. Calm and uncluttered: Japandi +2, Scandinavian +1.
- Paper shades, white and pale wood, a plain backsplash and matte black each add to Japandi or Scandinavian.
- Top three totals: Japandi 10, Scandinavian 6, Modern 2.
Result: Japandi with 10 points, and Scandinavian as the runner-up with 6.
How we calculate
Each answer points to one main style and sometimes one or two related ones. The main style earns 2 points and the related styles 1 point each; after seven answers the highest total wins, and the second-highest is your runner-up. Ties are broken by a fixed order, so the same answers always give the same result.
The mapping of finishes to styles is our editorial judgment, not a scientific test. Style names, descriptions and palettes come from the same style catalog the AI studio uses, so the result opens the studio with that exact style.
Estimates, sources
Planning estimates and published guidelines, not quotes, designs or code rulings. Local prices, your home and your jurisdiction's adopted code decide the real answer: get local bids and check with your inspector.

The 10 kitchen styles and their signature finishes
Each result is defined by a handful of finishes. If two styles feel equally right, combine the cabinets of one with the lighting and hardware of the other; the runner-up in your result shows which way to lean.
| Style | Signature finishes |
|---|---|
| Transitional | Navy shaker cabinets; White veined quartz; Brass hardware and pendants; White subway or marble tile |
| Scandinavian | White flat-front cabinets; Light oak or butcher block; Nickel or white fixtures; Simple white pendants |
| Japandi | Light oak cabinets; Pale stone or quartz; Matte black accents; Paper lantern pendants |
| English Cottage | Sage green cabinets; Butcher block counters; Aged brass; Cream handmade tile |
| Contemporary | Greige or white cabinets; A veined marble island; Polished nickel; Sculptural globe pendants |
| Modern | Matte black cabinets; White quartz; Black dome pendants; Slab backsplash |
| Industrial | Charcoal cabinets; Concrete-look counters; Steel and gunmetal; Metal cage or dome pendants |
| Mid-Century Modern | Walnut slab cabinets; Terrazzo or white counters; Colored glazed tile; Glass globe pendants |
| Mediterranean | Terracotta or warm wood cabinets; Warm stone counters; Rattan pendants; Zellige tile |
| Modern Farmhouse | White uppers, deep green lowers; White quartz; Matte black hardware; Metal dome pendants |
How to use your result
Start with the two biggest surfaces, cabinets and countertops, because they set the style and the budget. Then choose the metal finish and repeat it in the faucet, hardware and lighting. Keep the backsplash in a supporting role unless your style is built on it, like mid-century glazed tile or Mediterranean zellige.
Before you buy anything, try the style on a photo of your own kitchen. Seeing it on your cabinets, window and floor is the quickest way to know whether the result is really you.

Questions
How do I find my kitchen style?
Notice what you keep choosing: the cabinet door, the counter, the metal and the mood. This quiz turns those seven choices into one of 10 styles and shows the finishes that define it.
What is the difference between Japandi and Scandinavian kitchens?
Both are calm and use pale wood. Japandi leans warmer and lower-contrast with darker accents and natural textures; Scandinavian is brighter, with more white and simple white or nickel fixtures.
What is a transitional kitchen?
A mix of traditional and modern: shaker doors, clean hardware, a restrained palette and stone or quartz counters. Navy or greige cabinets with white counters and brass is a classic version.
Is the quiz scientific?
No. It is an editorial mapping of finishes to styles with transparent scoring: 2 points to an answer's main style and 1 to related ones. Use it as a starting point for your own taste.
Can I see my style on my own kitchen?
Yes. The button under the result opens the AI studio set to your style for a kitchen. Rendering your photo needs a free account; eligible new accounts get free credits once the email is verified, and free results carry a small watermark.
